This love affair between human and hound started in the summer of 2010. The shelter had identified the black puppy as an “Italian Greyhound mix.” But it quickly became clear that she was more terrier than IG. It didn’t really matter. I wanted a hiking companion. She needed a home. Black dogs don’t fare well at shelters. They often don’t photograph well, people can’t read their facial expressions, and many simply don’t want a black dog. The black puppy left the shelter a day before Independence Day. Off to a new life and new adventures! And a new name, Pepper!
Loves to hike, loves to read, loves to cook, loves Pepper. And yes, life is merrier with a terrier!
